Drag to set position!
A brief outline to my working life in Transport
Started work in 1962 as an apprentice mechanic working for Thomas Lamb (Gorton) Ltd on Dodge Tippers after serving my time I gradually over the years made my way up to workshop foreman for Townson Tanker Ltd then went into the traffic office as Traffic manager / Quality manager on road tankers.after 25 years working for Townson / Sadler Tankers i was made redundant I then spent 12 months at Albion chemicals in the traffic office and then was persuaded to leave and go onto work for another tanker company called Direct North West Ltd after 12 month working for DNW myself and 3 other members of staff had a management buyout. Unfortunately this only lasted 3 years and we shut up shop.I had by this time only 5 years to my retirement so I went shunter driving for a local company near home until it was time to finish. Now I just own a small van and do work for another local company just to keep me busy . (Once a Transport man always a Transport man.)
