Update: Oct 17, 2010. I've been posting on SmugMug lately, ssklar.smugmug.com. Flickr has lost my interest of late.

I find my lack of description disturbing.

OK, well, I graduated from the Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale with an AS in photography back in 1993. I was going to be a photojournalist and save the world with my stunning images.

I interned at the Miami Herald and Palm Beach Post, moved to California and freelanced for some papers out here (and the AP, of course ... everyone strings for them.)

At some point, I realized that, while I was OK, I wasn't great, and people who weren't great weren't getting jobs. So, I started doing some computer nerd stuff part-time for a dot.com, and followed a twisty path to where I am now: a job with lots of computer nerd stuff (I work for Stanford University Libraries) but no photo-taking stuff.

So, instead of taking pictures of professional football, car wrecks, and other newspaper-y stuff, I shoot my kids and my dog. And that's alright with me. :-)
