The South San Francisco Public Library is more than just books; we offer a variety of services and collections in 3 locations to meet the educational, recreational and informational needs of the diverse community of South San Francisco. In addition to thousands of great books, the Main and Grand Avenue Branch Library offer the use of computers with Microsoft Office and internet access, wireless internet access, ebooks, subscription services to magazines and information collections, audio books, DVDs, and Music CDs. Both libraries offer a variety of educational and entertainment programs for adults such as author visits, and interactive art, technology, health and finance programs.

Children’s Services offers story times for children and families at both facilities. In addition, season children’s and teen programming focusing on reading skills, high interest topics and fun activities are held on a regular basis. During the summer, the Reader Leader tutoring and Summer Reading programs help children maintain reading skills during the school break.

The Library also offers many literacy services through Project Read and the Community Learning Center. Project Read offers adult tutoring services, a computer lab for learners, the Learning Wheels preschool and family literacy van, and financial literacy. The CLC offers computer classes, parent/child homework and education support programs, ESL classes, citizenship classes, native language literacy, and partners with other agencies and groups to bring classes and programs to the community.
