A mythical beast that defies the eternal struggle between squid & whale, SquidWhale seeks a symbiotic harmony of handmade design and beautiful crafstmanship with modern technologies and wild, quirky sensibility.

SquidWhale is the brain-child of two divergent minds, Sarah L. Hunt (the whale, fine artist and vintage dealer) and Elizabeth J. Smith (the squid, fine artist and textile designer), that have come together to create something totally unique.

SquidWhale Designs launched their first design collection, The Turkey Red Collection, in June 2010 in an art exhibition at the Midwives Collective & Gallery in Philadelphia. The Turkey Red Collection is inspired by French 1890's Turkey Red fabrics, the designs of Richard Hofmann and the short story The Yellow Wallpaper.

SquidWhale Designs will release a Fall and Spring collection of textiles and related home design products and vintage items each year and one "wild card" print design around the holiday season.
