Spotlight (on Falinge) Ltd. is a not-for-profit social enterprise dedicated to empowering the deprived community of Falinge to initiate change.

We focus on taking a new approach to improving unemployment & reducing deprivation within the Central & Falinge Communities of Rochdale. Gtr Manchester. We prioritise employment, training & enterprise support and provide a range of services to aid community development.

In 2009 one of the biggest community projects began in the area. Aided by £30,000 from the MIF fund and 27,000 from the criminal Justice board; many, many members of the community came together, during one of the worst winters on record, to renovate a disused, derelict building complete with an army of pigeons and change it into the first community space within the area, The Falinge Community Hub. The renovation was completed in record time and the hub opened its doors on June 12th last year.

The Falinge Community Hub hosts a myriad of services for support, training and healthy living, including; a family, community and youth gym, a coffee shop with training kitchen, community employment support, enterprise support, peer support group meetings, an internet suite, a community marketing suite and print hub, and further community events, along with a host of other activities.

The entire project is run by volunteers and we have no standardised funding, everything is done through fundraising and taken through gym memberships and coffee shop sales for ongoing sustainability.
