Hi,
Thank you very much for your visit. I appreciate it.
I enjoyed photography for many years but never consider it as a hobby until recently in end Oct 2008. Those days, photography was just carefree shooting. Occasionally in the past, I dreamt about many conceptual images but they were just fleeting thoughts.
Perhaps old age has mellowed me down to shift from more active sports to a contemplative hobby like photography.
I am trained and work professionally in the design industry but not related to photography. Now I realised that there are many relations between the two and took the conscious effort to bridge that connection.
I enjoy carefree shooting photography, at the same time looking for my own styles, and trying to defy conventions, as we were trained to be, in hoping to break into a new perspective.
I like spoon, a humble tool, that elevate man to civility.
Spoon 99:
Spoon is what we always use to scoop something nice to pamper ourselves, be it food to nurture us or a beautiful image to feed our soul.
99% is what we can be at the most, as Mother Nature always hold 1% more. We must respect and preserve the 1% Mother Nature has over us, in order to keep our 99%.
This is my humble beginning to a horizon unknown and I hope to learn and grow in this artistic pursuit.
Thank you my friend for visiting and look forward to your comments and inspirations.

13 Jan 2009. Two months into photography, I have learned two good lessons to share:
1. When in Nature, respect and be at peace with it first, then it will reveal its beauty to you. Don't go barging in and set-up your equipment and ready to fire, but sit around and feel the place first.
2. Capture all the photographs with your heart first, then only with your camera.

6 months in photography now. I am still learning how to set the camera correctly but my focusing is better now, except that I spent much more time focusing selectively and composing the shots. I missed a lot of fantastic shot due to this and now learning a new tip to share.
To save time, I shoot the insect in my mind by trying to imagine the composition, the Bokeh, the lighting and the angle. I shoot the imaginary insect over and over again in my mind. When I see it in the field, half of the battle is won.
I also learn to set the camera and equipment (e.g. tripod) mentally. I learn to set my camera without looking and also adjust other equipment e.g. the tripod without taking my eyes off the subject. This is a valuable skill for fast flying insect and also some very very tiny insect, as the window of opportunity is very very narrow and gone very fast.
Having said all these, it is still mandatory to go into Nature gently and enjoy it first and wait for it to reveal its beauty. When the action finally start, with these skills, at least we are prepared to capture the images.
Well, hope the tips are helpful.
I hope to learn and share more as I go along.
Thank you my friend for your visit.

My Flickr experience has been improved vastly since I discovered Spoon 99's glorious photostream. I have already been quoted in another person's testimonial but felt I just wanted to add something else. Spoon 99 lifts insect macros from the scientific/cataloguing style one usually sees into art of the purest and most affecting quality. Just look at any shot, taken at random, in his 'stream and you will see what I mean. So how amazing is it to find that he has only very recently taken up photography? True talent. On a personal note, he is also one of the most encouraging and generous contacts I have, always ready with a detailed and intelligent comment on my uploads. Your Flickr experience is not complete until you have enjoyed Spoon 99's photostream.

By chance, I stumbled upon your stream, I was fascinated by the macro and the vast information that this stream held. But when I read YOUR profile, I could not believe that you are only 2 months old. Your shots and the vast information demonstrated that YOU are a HIDDEN GEM, that we have yet to uncover the Polish and Shine that you have. Every day, I checked to see if you have new uploads. Every upload holds vast amount of information and OPENED up my eyes. From each and everyone of your uploads, I learned about Nature. Taking a few examples: Photo :Twilight Mist You have combined macro and landscape concept together...should have a new terminology called Macroscape. Did not occurr to me till now to have silhouette in marco too! Photo:Love is in the air. Uploaded on Valentine's Day...this shows that you are sensitive to the festival day and able to link this Special Day to Photography. Photo: Rotor Did not know that Damsefly fluttering its wings looks look a Helicopter in flight. What our eyes cannot capture ...you have done it magnificiently for us. That is YOUR SKILLL and TALENT!!!! Photo : DENT This is my most UNFORGETTABLE photo. Every day, when I talked to my friends about macro shots and asked them have they seen a DENTED COMPOUND eye...every single one of them shaked their heads. This photo really awakes everyone that the eyes can get dented too if the insect is not careful.... If I continue to illustrate everyone of your photos... it is going to fill many pages. In Short... This is the PhotoStream that every single viewers should see to get their eyes OPENED to nature and the valued information that goes with every single photo. I, for one, will surely recommends this stream to my contacts and viewers. Quoting from one viewer "Studyjunkie": ""Your macros are always fascinating and of the highest quality but what makes them even more special is that they are also so artistic. You are not simply documenting the wildife but creating beautifully atmospheric art. This shot is so powerful with the glistening details of the web to the left of frame contrasted by the white-out to the right and then that dark and, for me, ominous silhouette of the spider in the centre. " Truly and Sincerely AGREE. Take care my FRIEND... I(We) are awaiting your constant uploads! (~_~)
