My stream is a document of my life as a TEFL Teacher and the countries it has taken me to. More importantly, it is also a document of my life as a member of families in England & NZ.
1. I have a wife, and a daughter. Perfect.
2. I like cuff links and ties, especially the Windor knot
3. I have my Dad to thank for all things camera. I can see him now at the table, reviewing and categorising family snaps. He has given me life outside the day to day of work and general being.
4. I like football, but more as a thing to watch than do. Increasingly, I think this is because it takes up a decent chunk of time at one go and gives my brain a rest.
5. Having said that, the most vivid experience of my life would be the FA Cup Final 1986 as a 10 year old. I'd never been exposed to 90,000 (mainly) men chanting and shouting. Growing up in a quiet middle class area it was beyond my imaginings.
6. My favorite building is the York Minster. It could probaby be any number of cathedrals, this is the one I know the best having lived in York for 6/7 years. It's the space that always gets me, something so big appearing so light.
7. I dont talk much, it always seems like too much effort. I try to communicate how I feel the world through my camera. I am trying to build a consistent body of work through which a thread is visible.
8.. Nothing comes close to a few beers for getting the brain going. All makes sense whilst drinking.
9. I've worked and travelled abroad for nearly a decade now. The longer I stay away, the more the landscape of home is with me.
10. I read a fair bit, although not as much as a I did. I like Thomas Hardy alot, and Jude the Obscure the most.
11. I prefer radio over tv, the World Service in particular.
12. I'd be no good in a war. Not much meat on my bones.
13. I teach English and enjoy it. The work requires a great deal of focus and leads to obvious signs of progress. I never claim to have taught anyone much though, the most I hope for is that in their time with me, students find an enthusiasm for learning which leads them to bettering themselves.
If you've got this far, then check out my contacts, there's some great stuff to be seen.
