Splinter Creek Dirt Riders Inc. was founded as a private motorcycle club in 1970 by a small group of guys who had a passion for motorcycles, a dream of promoting the sport and the desire to have a great place to ride. Our first club meeting was held at Carl Chambers’ Bultaco motorcycle shop in Roxana, Illinois. We wanted to raise money to purchase property so we would have a place to ride our motorcycles. We came up with many creative fundraising ideas like selling Christmas trees, having car washes, holding yard sales and selling raffles. In 1971 with lots of saving and lots of hard work doing fundraisers, we were able to purchase 80.5 wooded acres just north of Fosterburg, Illinois. It was the perfect place and setting for riding motorcycles.

Splinter Creek held our first motorcycle event that year with an observed trials competition. Later that same year the club hosted a couple of TT scramble races. By 1974 Splinter Creek grew and we held four Motocross races, five trials competitions, two TT Scramble races and three European Hill Climbs. Since then, Splinter Creek has earned a rich history of promoting the sport of motorcycling. Over the years, many AMA pro racers have turned up soil at Splinter Creek.

Today Splinter Creek hosts MX motorcycle races, MX ATV races, TT Scramble Races and Hare Scramble races. Our 80 ½ wooded acres is filled with trails where the Hare Scramble races take place and we have dedicated MX and TT races tracks. Splinter Creek is both motorcycle and ATV friendly. In addition, we allow camping before most of our race events and offer a full facility with concessions, bathrooms, computerized signup, spectator bleachers, wooded parking and more.

Splinter Creek Dirt Riders is an AMA Chartered racing promoter. All racing events are open to the public and AMA Sanctioned. The MX and TT races are sanctioned in District 18 and the Hare Scramble races are sanctioned in District 17 and 18.

Splinter Creek remains a private club. The 2012 club officers are Scott Johnson, President; Pat Loftus, Vice President; Scott Hogle, Treasurer; Dale Rhymer, Secretary; George Kershaw, Race Referee.

The members of Splinter Creek Dirt Riders want to thank our founders for dreaming of such a great place to ride and be a part of and then making it a reality. To the racers and fans, the members of Splinter Creek would like to thank you for coming out on race day and supporting us as we have celebrated over 40 years of motorcycling!
