Born and influenced in '50's & '60's South Africa. Had a brilliant childhood of hot summers and warm winters.

Always down at the beach in Sea Point investigating rock pools / fishing/ swimming in the largest open air pool in the southern hemisphere. Trips to Kirstenbosch/ Knysna/ George/ Mossel Baai/ Rhodesia/ Kruger National Park. Hunting and fishing.

Emigrated to UK went on to do a Special Chemistry degree at Hull University and work with the pioneers of Liquid Crystal technology , George Gray & Co.

Seems our bunch did well as one of them was chief brake engineer for Boeing 777 project another ended up as Marketing Director Toshiba US, another Chief Gas Engineer rigs BP and the last one was HM Chief Inspector of Prisons and is now Chief Parole Officer UK

Decided teaching looked like a good idea ( obviously one of my more idiotic ideas ! )

Spend most summers with family members in Turkey, Cyprus, Rhodes, Spain to recharge batteries, with extended family group.

What a lovely bunch the Turks are, what a clean friendly place it is.
