I am a corporate lawyer who has had a thirty plus year successful broad-based legal career. I have focused my practice on corporate transactions, governance and compliance, internal investigations and audits as well as special committee representations. I have been a partner with McKenna Long & Aldridge LLP since 1989 and am currently a senior partner in the firm’s Atlanta office. I joined the firm, in 1986 after serving as Legal Advisor to the Al Bahrain Arab African Bank in Cairo, Egypt and Manama, Bahrain from 1981 to 1985. I have served as General Counsel to Atlanta Life Insurance Company, as a Law Clerk to Judge Damon J. Keith of the United States Court of Appeals, Sixth Circuit, and as an associate lawyer with the predecessor firm of Alston & Bird.
I am the son of a sharecropper from Henry County and the youngest of thirteen children. I came from humble beginnings, but was fortunate enough to complete my high school education at Hanover High in New Hampshire as a participant in a unique program called “A Better Chance”. This distinctive opportunity became the springboard which catapulted my educational achievements including my graduation at various prestigious colleges and universities including Dartmouth College, Oxford University (on a Rhodes Scholarship) and Harvard Law School. I have also achieved numerous academic accolades including Phi Beta Kappa, Rhodes Scholar, and graduating magna cum laude at Dartmouth College.
