Happily Married, seventy+, three grown children. San Francisco Bay Area native.

My personal interests led me to degrees in Physical Geography and Biology, with some Geology and Engineering. I managed Medical Device manufacturing at bay area start-up companies for many years. I like the science, engineering and technology involved in this field. Now retired and enjoying whatever I want to do.

I've found that whatever the season or however much rain we've had, there is someplace in California that will be spectacular under those conditions. In low water years, new potholes are exposed in rivers that were never accessable before and the water may be warmer for swimming; yet in another area the streams may be stagnant where they were normally swimmable. The challenge, and my passion, is to search out those special conditions unique at that time.

I have a special liking for the south fork of the Yuba River and Eastern Sierra. Been swimming in the Yuba for forty years now. My first introduction to the Eastern Sierra was through a week-long Geography field trip in 1977, led by the legendary Cal professor Doug Powell. The trip included visits to several hot springs. I've been back every year since and still discover new things every time.
