Human-Powered Performance Technologies Evolution
Drag to set position!
Formerly known as the Speedplay Pedals Museum Collection of Exotic Bicycle Components, this site now follows the historical evolution of key technologies that have improved human-powered performance. The bicycle has been called "the most efficient form of transportation known to man". My personal career challenge has been to significantly upgrade that performance and other forms of human-powered mobility. Because the bicycle had been thoroughly engineered for more than a century, this challenge has been no mean feat. My fortune changed when I directed my focus on the elements of speed. Through careful study of these elements, I was able to develop a design language that functioned as a road map for innovations. While traditional bicycle design is strongly influenced by subjective drivers such as aesthetics, marketing desirability, business viability, and feasibility, my design language instead relies on objective drivers including the laws of physics and the limits of physiology. My design language filled in the missing link in the design spectrum, as it specifically relates to the apex of human performance and the interface of human and machine. The design language proved to be an extremely powerful tool. Not only did it allow the ability to create numerous speed enhancing inventions, its value has now been thoroughly proven over time by its revolutionary effect on the outright performance of the bicycle.
