I, Space Kitten, am Vancouver street artist who specializes in surreal art and design.

Born in Vancouver in 1986, I spent my early years living in the West End before moving to White Rock, where I spent most of my teenage years. Even from an early age, I was always the kid who would be drawing in class rather than paying attention. I attended high school at Langley Fine Arts, where I (not surprisingly) majored in visual arts. It was here that I became particularly interested in the surreal arts, and started to develop my own unique style, preferring to draw with fine ink pens. Self-dubbed Surreal Shapism, this iconic style is highly recognizable and has generated great interest locally and beyond.

From high school I decided to travel for a while, finding myself living in Sydney, Australia for four years. It was here that I began to think about applying my artwork to a professional career. So I began creating a body of work, and started selling prints as well as exhibiting in a few local spaces. After four years abroad, it was time to come home to Vancouver, and try to establish myself artistically in my home city.

Finding the gallery process difficult and largely tiring, I expanded into the city-wide canvas of street art.

When not creating new pieces, I am out about town, pasting large scale versions of my work on unsuspecting walls and surfaces. I really enjoy the absolute freedom of street art, and the ability to share artwork wherever, whenever, with anyone. In addition to showing my work around Vancouver, I have been been featured in the Italian/English magazine, Fluster, and also exhibited at the Design Festa Gallery in Tokyo, Japan.

Space Kitten Design Company was created by me to help push my works into unique and exciting mediums, such as T-shirts and other functional art pieces. The idea behind Space Kitten is to push the boundaries of conventional medium, and to offer high quality, unique artwork in a variety of forms - to venture beyond just a frame on a wall.
