ARTIST’S STATEMENT

My name is Randy Grosse. I fell in love with photography in the fifth grade way back in 1968, and have earned some portion, if not all, of my living as a professional photographer since 1981. I feel most at home with a camera in hand creating images. Photography allows me to capture my view of the world.

It is my goal to enhance life with beautiful photographic images that are a delight to view. My only rule is I will never make any photograph available to a collector that I feel is not truly unique to my vision, and a reflection of my best work as a digital photographer and artist.

I love to create still life compositions that isolate the subject, allowing the viewer to experience it in an unusual and extraordinary way. You will also find a bit of nature and scenic photography sprinkled into my work. I print images in both color, and black and white.

Although I have spent my share of time processing and printing images in an old fashioned “wet” darkroom, I now work almost exclusively with a digital camera and in a digital darkroom. Prints up to 11 x 14 inches are printed in my digital darkroom using UltraChrome inks on watercolor art paper. Larger sizes are made using traditional photographic materials. All prints are signed and include a Certificate of Authenticity.

I was hooked on photography from the moment I witnessed the magic of my first black and white print developing before my eyes some 43 years ago. Over the decades that followed I have been a portrait photographer, a wedding photographer, a commercial photographer, opened a studio, and spent a small fortune studying and honing my skills as an image-maker. Through it all my favorite part of photography remains the creative process of capturing an image that the viewer enjoys; hopefully an image that stirs a reaction, stimulates a thought, or at bare minimum, causes a smile.
