Jamie, aka soundkiosk, is a talented and erudite musician, respected by his peers and the many members of the public he regularly entertains at his concerts here in Brighton. He is also a successful teacher (of piano playing) of some repute, and his interpretations of Satie have earned him international recognition. Soundkiosk has a sophisticated sense of humour that reflects his intelligence and is visible throughout his photostream. His diverse interests are reflected in the varied imagery he shares through Flickr, providing a rich and entertaining visual experience. He is a prolific composer, constantly challenging himself with online uploads (to his interesting website and You Tube, to name but two places where his internet presence is felt) and regularly releases CDs of material that is both imaginative and wide-ranging in terms of style, technique and musical genre. The consistently kind support he has shown me as a personal friend, and here on Flickr, is typical of the many good qualities he possesses as a human being and more than justifies the high esteem I genuinely have for him. As well as supporting me, he regularly helps to raise the profiles of numerous other artists (not just musicians, but writers and visual artists too) in various ways, including publishing short fiction by new writers online on the website he created specially for the purpose, and by sharing a stage (providing time and an audience) at his concerts with other performers: including musicians, composers, poets and surreal comics. In all his various guises, Jamie commands attention and stimulates great interest. For all of these reasons, I feel he deserves recognition and I hope this testimonial, atleast partly, does him justice. Julian Cloran (aka Narolc).
