First a Diploma in Fine Arts, then a stint in Vocal Hindustani Classical music, and then a few years with percussion instrument -Tabla, the journey to explore the creative side of life had myriad hues for me. Eventually the quest for the undiscovered, led me to take up the Camera. The concepts of light and shade which were learnt as a painter made me see the world in a different light. I find things and event of mundane life interesting and seek to portray the beauty that lies therein.

The gaiety, the exuberance, the colours, the energy of Indian Weddings have fascinated me endless. Eventually I have chosen Contemporary Wedding Photography as my main area of focus. I don’t shoot photographs, I capture those fleeting moments and serve you in a platter in the form of an Album, which would otherwise be lost forever and forgotten over the years, those special moments that you might miss on your special day. My approach to photography is unobtrusive, conceptual and contemporary. I aim to use my creative vision and artistic flair to produce beautiful, timeless memories for you & your family to cherish.

My work is different from the common traditional photography and I shoot only candid frames. Candid photography is one that focuses on spontaneity rather than technique, capturing naturally occurring moments rather than focusing on setting up a staged situation or on preparing a lengthy camera setup.

The Bengali name Soumen means 'The King among beautiful people'. Here's a man who makes everything beautiful by his magic touch. Soumen and myself had a lot in common. Both of us were Engineers of the same age, chosen similar career paths, had identical interests and I always used to respect his creative skills. One day when I came to know that he has sacrificed his own profession for his passion, my awe & appreciation turned into admiration. I consider myself lucky for having known him. Soumen, your customers must be lucky to get such an artistic, talented & dedicated photographer to record the best moments of their life. I wish you every success in your future endeavours. Gopan G.
