Soaked’s photos are some of my favorites. I love her shots of urban landscapes and the textures of urban decay, the way everyday objects become transformed by her camera, and her eye for interesting subjects, which have included a dome house on stilts, a treefrog series, and an intense black and white exploration of a defunct battleship. Soaked has also generated a nice collection of shots documenting the indie music scene and she’s so cool that in addition to photos of such mainstays as Mogwai, Built to Spill, and Depeche Mode, she includes shots of more obscure groups like Judas Bear, Mute Math, and The Octopus Project. She’s also taken quite a few shots of different cute white dogs, including a chihuahua with enormous Sanrio eyes. Soaked’s main subject, however, is her own eye. Images of the eye and iris dominate her stream and appear and re-appear in different guises. These images are beautiful in themselves, but also express Soaked’s interest in looking at the world and capturing its image behind the opening of the iris.
