I feel grateful and honored to have had Flickr interview me and spotlight my photography.
I work out my photography muscles daily– scenery, wildlife, architecture, life.–and post a few. Professionally, I'm supposed to specialize to claim my niche, such as mushroom or lichen photography. But Flickr is for fun. When push comes to shove, I gravitate towards documentary photography in America. And then travel and photojournalism–i.e. storytelling–whether it is a worker washing a store window, the earth eroding by water, a muddied bird looking for breakfast, or a forgotten people whispering their secrets. But sometimes there is no story. There is just whimsy!
Taking photos, posting them, applying scrutiny, and chatting with other photographers on our art and tools make me a better all-around photographer. So please post a comment if one of my photographs reaches out to you.
As a Flickr member since its founding year in 2004, I want to thank Flickr for providing my photos with over 11 million views.

Don, I am a newbie to DSLR photography and am blessed to have had Flickr recommended as a site to share my images and view others as well. But more importantly through this site I became aware of your fine work and skills. My goodness your portfolio covers such a wide range of subjects and history across Kentucky and several other states. Not only are they phenomenal images, your comments regarding them are very educational, occasionally with some rather humorous notations. I look forward to viewing your site weekly as it is like a picture book and each image is a continuing look at current and historical features of our state/country – from sunrise to sunset, day and night, buildings, signs, waterfalls, animals, battlefields, people and just unnamed places. Each is a story by itself. Thank you for sharing and please keep up the fine art of photography. Jim Swartwood Jefferson County KY July 29, 2010 I recently had a short visit to the Battle of Stones River National Park which I have now learned that my G-Grandfather fought with the 69th Regiment, Ohio Infantry. Your history of historic battle sites has much more meaning to me now. Thanks so much for taking the time to do the additional research on the sites you visit and to share with others.
