Just a guy who loves to capture the ordinary in the hope of seeing the extraordinary.

I find a semblance of beauty in common things - even though those things may not be conventionally beautiful. This is also a reminder that beauty is subjective, and what one person finds beautiful, another person might not.

Do not discount the power that Japanese point-and-shoot film cameras have.

I first joined Flickr in 2005. I have left and come back several times. I am back now for 2021 and hope to stay for this time.

This is an experimental photo lab with cameras capturing the gritty social and urban fabric, color, retro & food of my environment in the 21st century. I strive to find authenticity in an inauthentic world. I rather take interesting and quirky photos than pretty ones. All photos are mine.

I think beauty is more important than efficiency, culture is more important than politics and economics, and small, local, old, and particular are almost always better than Big, Global, New, and Abstract. I do like some aspects of modernism, especially in design.

I am old-fashioned in a modern way, and modern - in an old-fashioned way.

I am inspired by the American photographers Stephen Shore, William Eggleston, and the American Super Realist Richard Estes. I like the work of Edward Hopper, Wayne Thiebaud, Alex Katz, Winslow Homer, Le Corbusier, Aldo Rossi, and Hergé.
