Photography has always been something of an enigma for me. Growing up in the Midwest, I remember my dad always taking a lot of photos with his Minolta XG7. That camera has managed to stay with me through many moves including one from Kansas City to Seattle (where I live now) and never learned how to use it.
After buying my first DSLR (Nikon D40), photography has quickly gone from a hobby to an obsession. I'm still just an idiot with a camera, but I'm learning and having a lot of fun. By day I'm a writer, mainly technical manuals, but after work I like to take photographs and write something a bit more creative than manuals.
I like to take photos of anything from landscapes and sunsets to macros of flowers and insects. Since I don't have any children, I take a lot of photos of my wife and my dog (Maddie).
I still have my dad's Minolta. I haven't used it in all the years I've kept it. I guess I'm a little afraid to, but, to this day, when I look at it I find inspiration.
