His bravery and quick-thinking meant that I survived with nothing more than a couple of broken legs, a crushed pelvis, and a dislocated neck. But it was his deviant mind that was the real hero of the day, whilst waiting for the rescue helicopter to arrive, he abseiled down to join me and successfully managed to keep my mind off the excruciating pain my broken body was in.
