I am Avi, originally from Calcutta, India but have been residing in the US for the past 6 years.

 

I completed my PhD in Chemical Engineering from Georgia Tech , Atlanta, GA and now work in New York.

 

I took to photography about 3 years back as a means to get away from research and being a lab rat and it has given me immense satisfaction.

 

I am very much an amateur, but love learning more and more photographic techniques. I am a gadget freak and I just can't stop updating my photo gear through the gold mine that is Ebay and KEH Camera.

 

My current digital gear consists of a Nikon D300 and a host of manual focus lenses:

 

1. Kiron 105mm f2.8 macro

2. Leica R 60mm f2.8 macro elmarit

3. My prized possesions: Kilfitt Zoomar Pan Tele Kilar 300mm.

 

In the DX section, I have the AFS VR 18-200 and the Sigma 150-500 which is my primary birding/wildlife lens.

 

I got into film photography last year and simply fell in love with the medium.

 

My film gear consists of

 

A. Pacemaker Speed Graphic 4x5 camera with

1. Graphlex Optar 135mm

2. Kodak Ektar 203mm f7.7

3. Wollensak Verito 61/2" soft focus lens

4. Benjamin French 5" Darlot Petzval.

 

B. Pentax 645N with the FA 645 45-85mm lens.: this is an amazing medium format camera.

 

I love macro photography and most of my shots deal with that, although I am trying to become a more creative photographer.
