**Project :- Street children welfare project

Location :sealdah and around

Living cost : Euro 200 /head for direct applicant or applicant from the country where we have no partner support.volunteers from partners will have to pay Euro 150/head/ 1-2 weeks camp.

Duration : 1-2 weeks

Details :There are thousands of poor refugees coming every year from nearby countries and from different cities and villages most of these families are living in a very poorly condition at slums or on street. Smile Society (ngo) had started their activities , washing,cleaning,cleaning their cloth,cutting hair and nails,basic education( pre-elementary ), vocational training, distribution ,art ,craft ,drama ,language,music and other activities done since 2003 !! There are few. Non formal field service educational cum other work done in these projects . We often need work camper to run these projects !! Volunteer can have a great fun to stay with the local host and learn local food habits/ culture/dress. cultural exchange programme would take place regular basis to learn each other country and heritage !! More over Volunteers would have great fun time altogether!

** Project:Repainting /reconstruction

Details:- There are vocational centre/ rain water tank /volunteer shelter required reconstruction or Repainting or both.we need to renovate these places time to time. Most of the children belongs the poorest part of the society and we are preparing them to formal school, giving them training and running income generating projects .So our initiatives to bring these children to the main stream. Our volunteers are welcome to make a beautiful place for our kids.

Since last few years we are trying to build vocational training centre for street children and a shelter for our volunteers . We need energetic youth to help us in painting, cleaning,helping in manual activities .

It is located at madhyamgram which is a town near Kolkata airport . The place is highly connected with different part of the city and other cities. There are local train,buses,car,available to connect with Center of Kolkata which is 25 km away .kolkata ( Calcutta) was previously the capital of India ( during colonial period) . The city has its big attraction like temples ( Kali temple, Jain temple,churches and mosques) ,Hoogly river ( a branch of The holiest Ganges river ) ,known among local citizen as Ganges river which is the most pious river for Hindu people. Kolkata it self very old city with lot of memories of colonial period. There are famous flower market,bridges,mother Teresa 's house and tomb .

The oldest banian tree on the earth is also located at Howrah botanical garden . The city of Kolkata and around a place where you can find the heart of the city. Famous park street for restaurants ,new market for shopping place and big maidan ( field) ,book market ,Kolkata university, museum and many more historical sites around.

Other attractive places like Darjeeling,Sikkim,sea beaches,forest,Varanasi and other attractive places are around the city. Kolkata is the city of joy ! One should never miss the city and around the it high touristic value.

**Project:- Animal welfare activities

Location: madhyamgram

Details: In smile family we have a big love for animals basically domestic animals like dogs,cats etc. in India there are huge number of street dogs and cats who are roaming unprotected and struggling for the life and shelter. We organise several projects every year for these poor needy animals . We welcome international individuals or groups to help in food distribution and look after these domestic animals during the camp. It is a fun filled experience for volunteers!!

We also have a animal shelter where we adopt the dog who can not been taken care by their owner. So daily activities like playing,walking,grooming,cleaning,food supply are part of the life of animal lovers !!

Long term and Medium term Project 2013:-

** Project: Street children welfare ( MTV 01 & LTV 01)

Daily schedule :-

Morning breakfast 7 am

Leave for work : 7:30 am

Transportation : public ( train/bus) or by car ( extra cost)

Work end : 12:30 pm( varies +_ 30 min.)

Lunch : 3 pm

Workshop: 5:30pm – 6 :45pm

Cultural exchange: 6:45-7:45 pm

Dinner : 8 pm

Bed time : 9:30

Working days – Monday to Friday

Weekends : No work

(Special city trip can be organised against extra charge)

** Project :- Computer and Manual assistant for welfare activities( MTV02 & LTV 02 )

Details : looking for volunteers having computer knowledge like office,web design,blog writing,online promotion,design etc. there are also places for manual assistants in different activities for the Organization. Volunteers should have open mind and flexible . Works related from cleaning ,washing, painting ,office work, out door ,camp leader assistant, assistant coordinator etc.

Open places : 6 for MTV and 6 for LTV .

Short description: Sealdah is the main rail station of Kolkata (one of the old city inIndia )where nearly 300 street children lives with or without their family. Most of the children live these places with their family,also there are kids who lives alone at this place. Lack of food, education, medical facilities are the root of all problem .People are involving in different illegal activities due to the lack of job availabilities. Some people who lives here engaged in different types of work like daily labor, house servant, porter, Van puller and many other types of legal and illegal job.Since2003 ,SMILE is working at this place with the street kids in kolkata. Our target to bring Smile to every needy kids and we are trying to help these kids through out the year. Every Volunteer can get a chance to see and work with the neediest part of the country. You can always find yourself really important in this place. Only your love and affection can give these kids a chance to lead their life and stand on their own feet. Every Monday to Friday we provide different types of welfare service (eg: washing, cleaning, food distribution, medical service, teaching etc) and we need your hands in this mission. Every morning we help these kids to wash and clean and then provide them the basic education with the breakfast. Volunteers can have a very quality time in this project. After noon time volunteers are requested to prepare the lesion plan for the next day.

*Tree plantation and recycling* (Spl. Camps & Group camps)

Food: You will get 3 times local veg food from host family/guest houses / school building / volunteer shelter as per available on arrival. Please do not expect any kind of special dishes (veg/non veg) or cold drinks or special living room or air conditioned room during your term. You are requested to get ready for a simple and challenging life.

Accommodation : shared and dorm based ( on floor with mattress) with group living .

........................ What to bring:- You can follow traditional packing lists, but here are several items that would be particularly helpful for this volunteer experience:-

A bed sheet, malaria medication , flashlight, umbrella ,mosquito net, mosquito repellent with DEET , sunscreen , alarm clock OR watch with alarm clock , journal , sleeping bag, Any games or craft items like Origami would be great for the kids, Rain coat , Traditional dress from your country if possible for cultural exchange project, Tradition dry food to share with the other volunteers and host family, Any music,song from your country to share with others.

Clothing: - fibrous (ex: linen or cotton or anything that is COOL and dries fast in natural sun) - for women, bring conservative clothing that covers the shoulders (ex: shirts with capped sleeves) NO shorts, bikinis, sleeveless clothes outside your own bed room (strictly).sandals ,head covering (bandanas, hat) ,towel that dries FAST.

Water: volunteers responsibilities

Airport pickup: available on prior application for free ( 6 am-6pm)

Transportation: normal local available like public bus,train ( home to project and return ) but in case car transportation required then extra €30/head/ 2 weeks camp ( weekdays only) extra fees required to pay with the living cost on arrival .

Airport transfer on last day : chargeable as per

Weekends trip : if volunteer groups looking for weekends trip to organise by local partners that is possible but chargeable as per trip.
