Hello!

This Flickr account was originally set up as an extension of a series of articles I'm writing for the Shropshire Mammal Group Newsletter (in the UK) on the identification of skeletal material of British mammals (hence the SMG bit of my former user name). The idea was that I posted pictures on here which could be viewed as supplementary to, or an extension of the photographs published in the SMG newsletter, where editorial space would naturally be restricted. However, I have already passed a few comments, marked a few favourites from other Flickr users, and added contacts who seem to share a similar interest in the scientific aspect or the aesthetic appeal of osteological material; and my pictures also seem to have attracted a select one or two interested parties from outside their intended catchment area of Shropshire, UK, for which, many thanks!

I have been a skulls and bones enthusiast since a teenager, 40 odd years ago. I don't hunt, shoot or fish and all my material has been acquired ethically, via beachcombing, roadkill, and small fluffy creatures that were unfortunately already dead.

I have a couple of other Flickr accounts to reflect some of my other interests, but, hey, you don't necessarily need to know that unless you're interested in the same stuff too.

My Flickr icon is a tribute to the excellent Skulduggery Pleasant novels by Derek Landy. An anatomical skeleton named Ralph; black card cut to shape to make the eye sockets more sinister, and a borrowed snappy hat completes the picture.

UPDATE May 2013:

Does anyone else hate the new look to the site as much as I do? I'm seriously thinking I need to find a new home to share these photographs. Very disappointed with the new Flickr. Please give us a Classic View option.
