He's an incredibly gifted photographer with a stunning eye for composition and light, one who really knows how to create impressive images that leave a big impact upon the public. His photographs are mostly black & white, but I don't know of any other photographer who makes such colorful photographs.

The choice in a square format imposes it's own frame of symmetry around a subject where one does not have to think in terms of horizontal vs vertical. I close of course that I have learned by traveling here and I wish I had taken some of those photographs. After I found my way to Flickr, one of the first photostreams that made me take notice that there were actually some exceptionally talented photographers here was Shannon's. He has what I call "old school" photographic knowledge and techniques. When you see an e l e c t r o l i t e photo, you know it's not some over-worked Photoshop creation; he has the genuine camera skills to produce the brilliant work he does the old fashioned way...behind the camera, not behind the computer. Likewise, he has one of the finest senses of composition I've ever seen as well; everything in Shannon's images is exactly, precisely where it should be. It's refreshing in this age of ridiculous, over-saturated Photoshop inventions to be able to come back to Shannon's stream and see REAL photographic art!
