I am a retired old fart. I have been into photography since I started using my uncle's darkroom while I was in grade school.

I really got into it in depth when in 1966, I was trained by the Army as a cinematographer (combat cameraman). You learn a surprising amount when you spend six months, 5 or 6 days a week, having a Master Sergeant prepare you to drag a 16mm Filmo into the jungles of VietNam. Luckily, I ended up in Germany where I managed to land a job as a still photographer and writer for a division weekly newspaper.

After returning to civilian life, I kept up my photographic activity though my work life veered into computers. I have used a string of Nikon film cameras going back to my Army days, but because of my job I became an early adopter of digital.

I have just recently acquired my seventh digital camera, a Sony a33. This is actually the first digital camera with interchangeable lens I have owned, and I am finding it a true delight to use.
