I was not born a Minnesota Northwoods woman. Originally from the prairies of the Midwest, I married into the "tribe".

Prior to moving here, I was a window dresser, science teacher, and textile artist. I always imagined myself someday living in the desert Southwest, the south of France, or a tropical island in the Caribbean. But I have come to love this land of lakes and forest, and find it a constant source of inspiration for my photography and art.

We live on Child Lake, which is part of the Woman Lake chain, on a 45 acre lakeside property that has been in my husband's family for over 60 years. Each day I roam the woods, sit on the dock looking over the lake, care for the gardens, take photos, and make art. At night I write, read, and do research about the area. It will take a lifetime to learn about this land, its' people, and creatures.
