I am a 37-year old Flickr addict, and have been a SLR photographer since 2002. I believe 'digital darkroom' is a greater asset to photography than 'digital recording'.

I started with photography as a hobby while studying in Belgium (1998 - 2005). When I moved to Johannesburg in 2006 it was my first experience of living in a big city, and my interest in photography intensified. Photography provided a means of absorbing the impact the big city, and the urban landscape also soon became the subject of my photography.

In 2010 my photography changed from being a hobby to a disturbing obsession, resulting in the acquisition of my first Medium Format camera (a brand new Mamiya C220):

I own a Pentax K100 digital camera, but at heart I am a film shooter. My Epson V500 scanner is the heartbeat of my photography. I'm also very fond of Corel Photo editing software for its playfulness, and I adore Nikon 35mm film camera's (especially for their light metering ability).

'Sense of place' is mostly the theme of my photo's, although I'm cautious of binding too much of a narrative to my photography.

My recent work has been on the coast between Fish Hoek and Simonstown (south of Cape Town):
