I am sadly delinquent in presenting this testimonial. I have long been a HUGE fan of the art of Skyshaper. He’s become known, to me, as SS. We refer to one another as SS, he being the other SS. That said, he is far the superior SS when it comes to artistry. His images are deserving of an entire gallery, anywhere in the world. I say that in all seriousness. This guy can walk into the big city and come out with visions that startle the emotions of anyone who has the privilege of viewing them. SS is a prophet of mankind, able to speak any language with a carefully crafted image. He possesses a sense of magic in being able to take an image and scream a message from it. He brings to light the feelings of the homeless and downtrodden. He speaks for all of us, who at one time or other have felt down and out. Lest we think he is only talented in his imagery, try reading one of his rarely posted narratives. He’s a genius writer, as well. I’ve hounded him for years to produce a book, or acquire a gallery. For now, I am most grateful that his gallery is Flickr. I get to see and feel the world, though his eyes, in his city. I tip my hat to my friend, SS, from SS (the other one).

I would be so shy of taking the kind of shots Skyshaper takes. I would be wrestling with the opposing thoughts that a) I would be highlighting a subject that needs to be highlighted and b) I would be exploiting someone with absolutely nothing and parading them on my photostream. He has balls. He does it in such a way that the viewer doesn't feel he/she is a voyeur but a watcher of a meaningful documentary. He is unflinching and powerfully direct in his subject choices. He is the best marriage of style and substance on Flickr. Long live SkyShaper.

SkyShaper...One of my earliest contacts on flickr, I still remember the visual shock (in a good way) that I had when I discovered his photo stream. He definitely has a unique style. All his photos have a strong philosophical message, and make your neurons work more than the usual! His creativity has no limits, he likes to experiment in the whole spectrum of photography and beyond. His latest work makes me want to call him the 'Dali of the Pixel Age'.

What is it that Skyshaper does so well? Why and how is it, that he sees what he sees, the way the he sees it? That's something that keeps me coming back again and again, not to analyze but to experience, because really, as with any artist, it's something that's beyond analysis. Is it the trademark Skyshaper, creative, tasteful and intuitive use of textures and colours? Its more than that. Is it the amazing skill that he has of being able to capture images that are, not only highly emotive but stunningly technical at the same time? Nah, that's not it either. Its all of those things, and one more. Like all true artists, you can have the instincts and the talent, but it don't mean a thing without the people. The secret to Skyshaper is the humanity of the man and his sense of it. Compassion. Peace and Love Skyshaper.

I do not know very well when I knew Sky. I suppose that some of his photos jumped to my eyes by chance and never I already let visit his stream. That Sky is a great photographer knows whatever it has seen its work but he is also a great person. Without knowing me, it helped me at the worse moments without requesting nothing in return. SkyShaper was one of my first to add to my short list. I've watched his work for quite some time now and I absolutely adore what he chooses as subject material and then how he takes that subject and makes it into an interesting piece of art. It's not just ordinary art, it's talented. I like his compostion, colors, processing and the way he approaches life. His photos speak of life, every day life subjects, and presents them to us with a true passion. Can't wait to see how his work matures, changes and continue to evolve. LOVE HIS WORK!
