Hi there Flickr Friends,

I am a big fan of photography and have been for a long time. The majority of my pictures until recently have been shot on smartphones and cheap compacts or bridge cameras. However I want to learn and do more, so I have finally invested in an entry level DSLR (Canon EOS 1200D / Rebel T5) and a small number of lenses.

One of the things you will find is that my images and techniques are varied and (I hope) I am growing in discernment and maturity over what I shoot and upload. The variety of images I produce demonstrate my desire to learn more than just safe standards. I am also developing my post processing skills using Gimp.

My most recent investments have been in lighting, I now have a screen and two lighting/soft boxes which I am using for set up shots and macros. **** Update: since I really got into photography I have now upgraded to a Canon 70D ****

In March 2016 I won my first competition (a local competition not a Flickr contest) with a simple image of a seagull on a fishing boat.
