I'm just a hack photographer who should be making a living working as an mechanical engineer... On weekends, I frequently moonlight as a bassist on call for several bands in southeastern Michigan and beyond -That's where BassDude comes from, not the fish.

One of my favorite bands I've worked for toured Northern Michigan and I found that I was almost always near the water. After a while, I started to record the trips by way of my ancient Nikon Coolpix 800 and Minolta film cameras that I've had since the 80's. I broke the battery door off the Nikon and found an Olympus handheld (that took GREAT images!) for $50 at Office Max, which led to another Nikon and another broken battery door, and finally decided to replace all of my digital and ancient Minolta film gear with a Canon digital SLR. I haven't broken a battery door since.

Over the years, I wes frequently a weekend Canadian, keeping my boat in Sarnia/Point Edward. From April to late October, the boat was my home almost every weekend. I've been vacationing on the eastern shore of Lake Huron since I was 10 years old and I loved being able to venture out onto Huron at the drop of the hat. My marina neighbors were some of the greatest people on the planet and made me feel right at home in my adopted country. I still stay in touch with my Canadian friends and get over a couple of times a year. I've covered a lot of territory from Sarnia to the North Channel and have yet to record it all. I'll keep trying.

I love living in Michigan, this state has so much to offer with the very finest fall colors most Michiganders have taken for granted. The wildlife is fantastic but I do better photographing things that don't move :o)
