“A portrait is a painting, photograph, sculpture, or other artistic representation of a person, in which the face and its expression is predominant. The intent is to display the likeness, personality, and even the mood of the person. For this reason, in photography a portrait is generally not a snapshot, but a composed image of a person in a still position.”
I compare my photography to portraiture, with the intent of conveying to the viewer; the likeness, personality and mood of the subject. I'm always wandering the city looking for that special "portrait" whether it be something bright and shiny, colourful, bathed in sunlight or enveloped in shadow.
Originally from the Prairies, I moved to Toronto years ago and now reside in the Leslieville neighbourhood. My interest in photography originated from a desire to share the many facets of Toronto's culture with my collegues. It has now progressed into a genuine love for the art of photography.
Self-taught, I starting out with a point and shoot, graduating to my current DSLR. Occasionally I’ll use a PnS.
