I started to photograph trains in 1982 after my Dad gave in and bought me my first camera at age 12 (a Kodak 110mm camera). I've been shooting them ever since (some 40 years so far).

I grew up in the Binghamton, NY area and eventually worked for all three Binghamton area railroads (NYS&W, Conrail, & D&H) before moving to the mid-west to continue my railroad career. In 2015 my career brought me back to Upstate NY, this time to the Capital District. In January 2026 I completed 348 RRB credit on my way to the needed 360 to retire.

I hope you enjoy the images posted here. I enjoy the trips down memory lane, a lot has changed in the last forty years. To those who remember this time period I hope you to will enjoy them, and to those who don't, you can see a period of railroading which falls after the "golden age" and "transition era".
