I am an easily distracted artist, which explains the wide range of mediums I work in. Wood and clay are my favorite, but I also spend a lot of time on etching, wire sculpture, sewing and painting. Over the years I have dabbled my hands in candle and soap making, beading, metal-smithing, crochet, metal etching, papercrafts, stamping and taking things apart to see what’s inside. Ever seen the inside of an antique lab centrifuge?

My studio is in the cozy basement of our house in Toronto. I’m in the basement because Adam was sick of helping me clean spilled paint off the carpets and the “twack” noise he encounters when vacuuming from sucking up spilled beads. And we won’t even start on the melted wax in the drain issue. I like it down here, nestled beside the pantry and the christmas tree box. You never know when it will come in handy to have condensed soup and arm’s-width away.

I’m relatively new to the online art scene, having opened my Etsy shop in March of 2007. I had to start selling all the things I make to keep my hands busy because my Mom hinted that she is running out of storage space for the finished projects I keep sending her under the guise of gifts. One can only have so many candle holders, after all. So I have collected my random creations in the Sixth & Elm shop in the hopes that I can spread the love, because my basement is getting kind of full.
