Once upon a time, my family signed up to volunteer with an animal rescue for six days at the State Fair of Texas.

Six days turned into seven.

Seven turned into eight.

And so on.

What was once just a short commitment has turned into a life changing experience full of joy, tears, friendship, trials, and lots of leash wear.
