I started taking photography seriously circa 2003 after receiving one of the first digital cameras for Christmas from my wife, a 3.2 mega pixel Sony Cybershot P5.

After a few years I then moved onto a “bridge camera”, the Panasonic FZ30, which taught me a fair bit about photography. I had to get into post processing due to digital noise the camera created and at the time programs like Noise Ninja helped matters.

I moved onto a Canon 600D (which in my opinion is/was a great camera for the price) then a 70D but had softness issues with centre point focussing, trialled a 6D but lacked the cropped sensor magnification help so went backwards again to a simple 9 point AF Canon 700D, a marginally better 600D. I couldn`t fault the picture quality nor the swift focus system although all macro shots are manual and handheld.

In my desire to get bigger macro images with my extender I opted for the Canon 80D with it`s 24mp`s. Combine that with a much improved RAW dynamic range and latitude, this will do for now.

What interests me the most?

“All creatures great and very small”. The detail human eyes cannot see (macro) and probably Graffiti. I am trying to learn new techniques i.e. ICM soo who knows what the future brings.

Has to be noted, 99% of my images are handheld, good to be free.
