Even though I'm a scientist by education, I've always loved the visual arts and taking pictures. I bought my first DSLR in 2006 and upgraded to a Canon 30D in 2007. Right now, I shoot with (in order of use):

I love getting comments and criticism (constructive, of course!) on my pictures. I've never taken a class and have mostly just figure it out as I go along based on what I think looks good ... so I'm always open to suggestions!
