I was born and I live in one of the most beautiful places in the world. I won't say that I take it for granted but I do see the scenery as one sees their home. It is so familiar - so normal.

One of my favorite authors is G.K. Chesterton. He wrote a story of a man who wanted to see his home for the "first" time. The character tried to enter his home as a burglar, a salesman, through the chimney, through windows and so for forth in an effort to "see for the very first time" that which was so familiar to him. He did not succeed.

I think that this is what is driving my photography. I want to see my oh-so-familiar home for the first time. I want to see things for the first time.
