Simon Youth Foundation (SYF) works to foster and improve educational opportunities, career development, and life skills that transform the lives of at-risk youth through focused initiatives with SYF’s public school and post-secondary education partners. SYF accomplishes this through two primary initiatives: alternative schools called SYF Academies and a post-secondary scholarship program. During the 2012-2013 school year, students will be enrolled at 23 Academies in 13 states. Since its inception in 1998, SYF’s nationally recognized program has graduated more than 9,700 at-risk students at a 90 percent rate, and more than $10 million has been awarded in post-secondary scholarships.
