My interest in photography goes back to my young teens when I was given my first camera an old folding bellows type with film on a roll! When I look back I am amazed that I got any pictures as I used the light settings guide on the side of the film box and guessed the exposure. My first 35mm camera was a Zenith, which had been my late fathers who died when I was 11, it had a basic light meter which was used to set the manual exposure. With this like the last camera it was sometimes several weeks before I saw any results, so the learning process was slow and for me expensive while still at School. My next step was after getting married and when our son was born, I bought a new Nikon 301, which I used for several years taking many pictures of our two young children, pets and anything else I could find. In the 90’s I started using a couple of compact digital cameras then moved to my first SLR type a Nikon D100, although initially disappointed by the small screen and image quality it was fantastic to experiment and see instant results. By then my work life had moved on and as a trainer I was able to do some photographic courses, which I then trained for the Met Police. Now after a change in career I have decided to move on further with my photography, encouraged by results from photo’s taken for my sister at her wedding and being the Photographer for my brothers wedding I have teamed up with my daughter Alison (Alison-Leah) to take on more of a challenge!
Although I consider myself to have good technical ability and knowledge I enjoy learning new techniques. Alison has the artistic eye she completed some photographic training as part of a foundation course before qualifying with a BA (Hons) Graphic Design from UCA Maidstone.
