My dad was interested in photography when I was a boy so I've always had an interest and a camera. Since dad had a collection of different box and bellows cameras I used to use any of them he would let me with 120 roll film and make contact prints in the bathroom.
My first SLR was a Zenit E (we called it Zenith) with a screw mount 58mm lens and a light sensitive strip above the lens mount which formed the light meter. I had great fun developing black & white film and using Dad's enlarger (which he got from boots if I remember correctly) to print pictures.
I gave the Zenith to my sister and got a Petri MF-1 SLR which also used the same screw mount lens and used that until I got my first bayonet mount camera when I started work, which was an Olympus OM-20 with a 28mm wide angle, a 70-200mm telephoto zoom and the standard 50mm F1.8 'kit lens'.
After a few years I sold the Olympus and bought a Canon EOS300 35mm which was the first camera I had which would autofocus, but then stopped for a while because film seemed to be waning and digital wasn't very good.
Eventually in about 2002 I bought an olympus camedia super zoom and then about 2007 a panasonic DMC-FZ8 until I bought my first Digital SLR last year, a Pentax K200D. I then added an Olympus E-PL1 as a 'walk about' camera, and upgraded to a Pentax K-r in June 2011. Recently I bought a Canon S95, which I keep in my pocket most of the time.
In July 2012 I upgraded to a Pentax K-5 and part exchanged the Pentax K200D, the Pentax K-r and the Olympus EPL-1 so I'm down to the smallest number of cameras I've owned for a long time (apart from a few 35mm film cameras).
The photos in my public photostream are mainly landscapes, nature shots and a few of the family. I tend to use flickr as an on-line storage area so I'll upload most of the shots I take. I also tend to take pictures and then review them to see what I could have done to make them better so there will be several similar shots over a few days.
I'm always interested in constructive criticism - although I've had a camera for years, I know I've got a lot to learn and anyone who points out my mistakes will be doing me a favour.
