Hi Everyone!

I am new to Flickr, but really enjoying sharing my pictures with the world. My goal is to get some feedback and comments from other serious amateur photographers and professionals about my work. The themes surrounding my work include ethnography, portraiture, still life, nature, night-time, and architectural photography. I shoot almost exclusively film and have been lab independent (from exposure to print) for roughly one year now. I have several different cameras that I use, which range from 35mm (Nikon F100), 645 (Fuji Gs645s), 6x6 (Yashica 635 TLR), and most recently, 6x7 (Pentax 6x7 MLU). Most recently I have been incorporating more digital technology in my work by scanning my negatives/slides and doing a bit of post processing on some. My camera collection has also recently adopted a Nikon D70s DSLR.

In terms of technique, I was extremely influenced by distinguished professor Bruce Jackson, when I took his ethnographic film course last spring. Bruce inspired me to "just go shoot" and begin confronting "failure as a reasonable option" through "actually really doing it". So, I began prolifically shooting and developing, which brought back my passion for photography. I think anyone can achieve great results with any equipment provided you know what message you want your work to convey, you identify and highlight the information you think is important in a photograph, you don't define your work by the limitations of your equipment, you aren't afraid to go out and let your passion mold your "photographic eye" (or, artistic vision), and you recognize that photography represents a blurred genre between science and art.

Please feel free to message me if interested in my work. I am open to the idea of selling my work, but would first like some opinions from other photographers on how to value such pieces.

Best,

M
