Personality: Always enthusiastic, Kallen's outward appearance of a friendly and easygoing girl belies the tempered steel that composes her resolve and commitment to justice.

Biography: Born to a Japanese mother and a Britannian father, Kallen was forever a child of two peoples. While outwardly she seemed to be happy as a Britannian, she resented her father and her Britannian heritage. She eventually rebelled against her father and her heritage from him, forsaking a life of privilege for her mother and her beliefs. Joining the resistance, she fought with her brother until his death in the early days of the fight. Under Oghi Kaname she quickly established herself as the best pilot in the Resistance, a fact that Zero was fast to exploit when the Black Knights were formed.

She was a founding member of the Black Knights and was quickly assigned to pilot the Guren Mk II, the best Knightmare in the Knights. She quickly made a name for herself and her distinct Knightmare, besting several Britannian aces in her first few sorties. Her status as the Ace of the Black Knights was complicated by the double life she was forced to lead, Kallen Kouzuki the Knightmare ace as what she wanted to be, Kallen Stadtfeld the mild student what she was forced to lead during the day. She played a major part in the rescue of Kyoshiri Todoh from Britannian custody. During the attempt to capture the Lancelot, she was separated from the Knights and encountered Suzaku Kururugi on Kaminejima island. This encounter resulted in both pilots steeling themselves for their eventual battle to the death, which occurred during the First of Tokyo. Despite the technical edge provided by the Lancelot Air Cavalry, Kallen held her own far longer than she should have, badly damaging the Lancelot before Zero showed up to engage Suzaku. She broke away for repairs at that point. Once Zero abandoned the Knights, she followed him, hoping to prevent Suzaku from capturing him. Discovering Zero's true identity as Lelouch, Kallen was shaken to her very core, and she fled rather than aid Lelouch.

A year later, Kallen had come to terms with Lelouch's deception and was very much active in the remnants of the Black Knights, forming one leg of the leadership triad along with Urabe and CC. Posing undercover to recover Lelouch and help CC restore his memories, she again showed her unmatched prowess in Knightmare combat against Rolo's Vincent. Once Lelouch's memories had been restored, she helped cover the Knights' retreat to the Chinese Embassy. With that task done, as ranking survivor amongst the pilots she became the commander of the surviving Knightmares. During Zero's bold operation to rescue the brass of the Knights, she led the Knights forces, the first display of her prowess as a commander rather than as a pilot.

During the operation to recover the new Viceroy of Area 11, Kallen showed just how good she was by holding the line longer than any other Black Knight against the superior Knightmares of the Rounds. Once she was shot down, though, Rakshata was able to deliver a tremendous upgrade to the Guren to her mid-flight, allowing her to handily defeat the three Rounds present. She continued to dominate the battlefield until she was put up against Li Xingke and his Shen Hu, where she only lost due to her Energy Filler running out. Captured and handed over to the Britannians, she was locked in captivity for some time. During her captivity she held several conversations with Nunnally, exploring her nature and what she wanted. She again concluded that she was Japanese to the core and that she would do whatever she had to to restore Japan to her sovereignity. Rescued by Sayako, Kallen took to the skies in her newly upgraded Guren SEITAN, where she swept the air of the cream of the Britannian military. Although she was unable to prevent the detonation of the FLEIA warhead, she still inflicted massive casualties amongst the best of the Britannian military.

In the aftermath of Tokyo, when Schniezel revealed that Lelouch was actually Zero, she was one of the few that didn't immediately condemn him, hoping to hear him out. Lelouch confused her, publicly praising her for being his greatest pawn, but privately showing more affection for her than she thought possible. Once Lelouch ascended the Britannian throne, she was his welcome party at Ashford. She believed that she confirmed Lelouch felt nothing for her, and looked upon him with sadness after that. Once Lelouch took the UFN Council hostage, she knew he must be stopped, and again took to the skies in the Guren SEITAN to stop him. Defeating the Knight of Three, she then turned her attention to Suzaku. In the greatest Knightmare battle ever fought, they drew, with both Knightmares being destroyed. Captured by Lelouch's forces one he wrested control of FLEIA for himself, she was sentenced to death when Lelouch enacted Zero Requiem. Seeing Lelouch fall changed something in Kallen, and with the fall of the Empire, the restoration of Japan, and the founding of the Republic of Britannia, she felt she could finally lay down the sword and enjoy a peaceful life.

In the immediate aftermath of Lelouch's death, she returned to Ashford and lead the quiet life of a schoolgirl again, the only reminder of her time in the Knights being the Guren's key around her neck. Kallen believed, correctly, that she had earned the right to her life, and chose to lead a quiet and unassuming life. Today, Kallen's life is spent quietly in as normal a fashion as she can manage, with her still attending Ashford as the world spends its days in peace. Nevertheless, her ear is ever to the ground, and should the need arise she stands ready to take up arms once again in defense of justice.

Equipment: Kallen still has the original key to the Guren around her neck, even if it was copied and the legendary Knightmare was passed on to another pilot. She also carries a knife concealed in her purse with her when she isn't in full battle regalia. Also, even though it isn't physical, she still carries the memories and hopes of Lelouch with her as well. She has also taken to wearing a small wakizashi concealed in the small of her back.
