Who am I
a mostly amateur, female, Canadian photographer. In addition to nature photography, I also enjoy still life/tabletop photography. I create art in many mediums, especially pencil portraiture, water colour painting and with wool for soft sculptures. (There are 'Albums' of my artwork in my Photostream.) Update: 2019 for the past couple of years I've been posting shots from a handy fixed lens Canon point and shoot. My limitations and the cameras also have called me to use my Flickr archived webpages more. I find that since I started carrying an Apple iPhone I carry my Canon less. I’m lately doing snapshots rather than setting up my tripod and working for quality photographs. I may one day get back to it as a more serious endeavour but for now I hope you can delve
deeper into some of my older photos when I had better, camera body, and some very nice lenses.
For about 9 years, 2008 - 2017, especially during spring and summer, I was often to be found chasing down birds, patiently watching and waiting to get some good shots. In the past I shot with first a Canon Film camera, then a Nikon D40X and several lenses, and at the same time a Panasonic Z28X both of which I wore out. These days I have a fixed-lens Canon. From about 2016 on new posts on my Photostream are limited to what my point and shoot is capable of. Although, as my artist son says it isn't the equipment - it's what vision the operator of the camera has. I miss being able to get long distance shots of birds and doing macros with great lenses, but still I find subjects that delight me to see and photograph.
From 2008 - 2014 I spent considerable time in the Canadian Rocky Mountains and Rocky Mountain Foothills of Southern Alberta photographing landscapes, wildlife and wildflowers.
I'm not against selling my work if someone wants to purchase. I don't actively sell it because great photos have been made commonplace because of digital.
* I have in the past sold prints of my photos on note cards through a museum and an art gallery in Alberta.
Please don't take/use my photos in any way, thank you. These are copyrighted images. To capture these images took my time, effort and money (for equipment and travel). You may send me Flickrmail if you have a request regarding a photo; I'll consider it. Thank you for respecting my work as belonging to me!
IMPORTANT to Note: If you try to 'Follow' me but you don't have a profile (About), any of your own photos posted in your Photostream, and only have 'Favorites', I'll 'Block' you. If you have photos of naked people, photographed for sexuality, either in your stream or as 'Favourite' you will also be blocked, if your stream is about commercial toys ( although I love to see the ones you've hand-crafted) and/or all digital art I am not interested in having you follow me or to follow you. Thank you for respecting my boundaries.

Ruth's love and feel for the beauty of the land comes out in her landscapes. Photos I would love to take if I lived in a different place. Since I don't I am glad she does and captures the essence of the land so well.
