I'm an avid photographer and I love to learn. Photographically, I’m constantly experimenting and trying out different things. For now, I primarily shoot landscapes, though I'm happy to shoot anything that stands still long enough for me to get a picture. I love it when I get a good shot right out of the camera, but I'm definitely not above fine-tuning an image using a range of digital techniques. For now, I shoot with a Nikon D200 which I’m still very happy with. When it comes to manipulating images my primary tool is Photoshop CS4. I also use Lightroom, DxO Optics Pro, Photomatix and Dynamic Photo HDR. A lot of the images I post to flickr are HDR images. Primarily I use it to allow me to shoot scenes with a lot of dynamic rage, and I aim for a “believable” image (more or less.)

I try to keep a 'reasonable' number of contacts but, by now I have many more contacts now than I can possibly keep up with. I have a lot more demands on my time than I did when I first started using flickr. I try to visit my contact's photostreams and to post a comment here and there, but the days when I looked at all my contact's pictures and commented regularly have gone by the wayside. I wish that weren’t the case, but there are only so many hours in the day.

Being on flickr has been very motivating. I get a ridiculous amount of satisfaction from sharing the images I create on flick. It really makes me want to get out and take pictures to share with my contacts and friends (which can be helpful, especially on those cold Maine mornings where it would be so much easier to stay in bed for an extra half hour!) It’s also very educational and enlightening to see what people find like and don’t like of the images I put up on flickr.

In case anyone's interested, I was born in Reykjavík, Iceland (which explains my first name), and I now live in Old Town, Maine (USA). I've lived in Maine for over 20 years now. Before settling in Maine, I lived in Virginia, Indiana, and California. I lived in various places in Iceland (mostly Hafnarfjörður) until I was 11. Icelandic is my native language, though I can barely speak it now.
