Richard Probst - Shot in a Frame
Drag to set position!
I have always taken photographs for much of my life. Be it a Kodak box camera or my little Brownie, I would look through the viewfinder, point and shoot. The possibility of having settings on a camera totally eluded me. Then we booked a trip to Kenya and all of a sudden things got serious, really serious. This was going to be an expensive trip and I somewhat needed to have an idea of what I was doing! I started researching how to really, seriously take photographs, and this time of animals in the wild. Some of them really big! I bought 2 Canon Rebels; one with a wide angle lens (18mm to 200mm) and one with a zoom lens (100mm to 400mm) so I figured I had all bases covered. I was quite nervous about all of it; it seemed as though there were hundreds of settings on these cameras and I needed to get them right. After much anquish, I decided to shoot Auto and then take the luxury of "toying" with some settings. To make a long story short, I ended up shooting over 6,000 photographs in Kenya and I think that I worried too much over nothing. We had a great time and took a lot of photographs of some beautiful animals in the wild.
Since then, I have moved up the better quality cameras; Canon 5D Mark III, a 6D Mark II and for nostalgia's sake, I kept one of my old Rebel T3I's. I also kept a Canon 70mm-300mm lens which I use with a Macro lens occasionaly to capture flowers along with a Canon 100mm-400mm and a 24mm-105mm L Class lens.
In the last couple of years, I have taken over 10,000 photos of dogs as I was a photographer for a number of dog rescues. To fill in the gap between pets and other animals, I have developed a love for the color of flowers and look forward to each and every year when they first appear.
Thank you all for visiting. I totally enjoy visiting everyone's Flickr pages as it is a great way to "travel" and see the world for free.
