I take pictures of things that i want to spend more time looking at, but would freeze to death or get hit by a truck if i just stood there unmoving for that long. Generally, i can't get enough detail to be satisfied, but once in a while i'll get enough to remind me of what i saw and then forgot.

I'm a terrible photographer - if it weren't for the low cost of taking scores of digital shots, i'd never touch a camera. I don't know if anyone has coined the phrase "birdshot photographer" to describe a person who tries to get a decent image by taking lots of semi-random shots at the target, but if not, someone should. Then i could use it to describe what i do, and save all this typing.
