"Shadowdancer" came to me when I posted a swan photo of George Jr. with his full wings outstretched and a friend posted that he's dancing for my camera. You could see his shadow in the photo and so I named it "Shadowdancing". Well I got to thinking that it would be a fitting Flickr name because I always seem to be dancing in and out of shadows with the camera, trying to get a decent shot of an animal who's lying halfway in the shade and halfway in the sun!
I've always loved taking photos and am currently becoming educated on how it's really done. I first became interested in photography around 1982, when I took a class at a local college and bought a used Rollei 35mm film camera. I learned how to process, print, and mount black & white work... I was fascinated and could spend hours in the darkroom without even realizing it! After putting the hobby aside for the next twenty or so years, my first attempts at digital photography were taken with a early-model Sony Mavica (FD-7), and since late summer of 2005, with a compact Olympus D595-Z. After joining Flickr in March of 2006 to find photos of and discuss pandas... it only took being a member for a few months before the shutterbug caught me again and after doing a ton of research, I upgraded to the Canon S3-IS in September of 2006. I've been thrilled with its performance. The many exceptional and talented photographers on Flickr have inspired me, however, and I'm now jonesing for the Nikon D80. There's something about Flickr that makes me want to try harder and continuously improve.
Sure wish I still had that Rollei... it was a gem.
Updated April 3, 2007! The D80, along with the Nikon 18-135mm kit lens, is now mine! I think it was an excellent choice - the research paid off.
August, 2007 I've since acquired the Nikkor 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6 VR telephoto lens and my first prime lens, the inexpensive but awesome Nikkor 50mm 1.8D. I'm constantly learning and stuck in a photography book, magazine, or web page -- and I stand by my statement that the D80 was an excellent choice!
April, 2008 - I rented the Nikkor 70-200mm f/2.8 lens for about six weeks -- now I must have it and am currently saving funds for that. If the U.S. government would kindly hurry along these refund checks.... I'm ready! That is my current jones, and the next is the Nikkor 105mm f/2.8 VR Micro, as I'm currently using closeup filters for macro shots.
May, 2008 The 70-200mm f/2.8 lens is mine!! Needless to say, I'm thrilled with it, beyond belief!
I was recently interviewed for the Artist Spotlight in the Impressed By Your Beauty! group. I'm so honored to have been chosen, and that interview can be found here:

Useless question: why are all the GOOD photography magazines published in the UK? It's not "what's in your wallet" for me, it's "is anything left in my wallet?"
Useless information: I'm the "mommy" of a rescued sheltie, Maxx, who is forever in my photostream. My favorite photography is of animals, and Maxx is good practice because he hates the camera. :) Update April 2008: he's still good practice, but he now thinks of himself as a super model, lol.

And after all of that information -- to clarify, I am not a professional photographer if it's not already blatantly obvious, nor do I claim to be one. I have sold some of my photos, licensed others for web site use, and donated still others for projects that have been requested that I believe in, usually for educational purposes. However, I consider myself strictly an AMATEUR, doing it for the "love of the game", and have no intention of changing that. :)

Linda is an amazingly talented person! Not only are her photos recognized by many professional groups here on flickr, but she's also a computer expert and musician and lover of animals. If I ever reincarnate as a dog, I want Linda as my mommy!!

Linda is the first person on flickr that I've written a testimonial about. Her photos are so wonderful! I look forward to them everyday. She doesn't just take photos of animals, she captures their essence. People say that anthropomorphism doesn't exist, but how can you not believe in it after looking at Linda's photos? They are spectacular in every way. She captures their emotions and the love they feel for one another. And if you can't believe in that, then what CAN you believe in? She has a gift that I hope she continues to share with us everyday...

Linda is an intelligent, gifted woman. She never ceases to amaze me with how much she knows about so many things. She's a talented musician. She's also our company computer guru(which makes my job easier..I'm her boss:) ) She's also very shy but has a very quick wit and can be very funny without even trying.
