Born and raised in Southern California, I've lived in Oregon since 1989. A retired physician, I practiced neurology originally, then switched to hospice and palliative care medicine. I also volunteered extensively as a disaster preparedness consultant and healthcare magazine writer and editor. I'm a walking bad luck charm as far as physical and mental health - which at times interferes with the time and energy I have to spend on Flickr or the locations I can visit. I always try to take photos though - it 's the only thing keeping me sane!
As for photography style, I like saturated colors and sharp detail. I enjoy finding unique parts of a subject that might otherwise go unnoticed. Otherwise, I'm happy shooting whatever catches my eye (although I'm rarely patient enough for animal or bird photography).
Most of my photos are available for free use with attribution via Creative Commons licensing, although I always appreciate a Flickr Mail message letting me know how/where you used them. If you need a higher resolution image for print purposes, please contact me to discuss.
