I was having an identity crisis so I took my old profile down.

I prefer to mediate the world through a camera or written words than to deal with it directly.

I do not like the way the world is and I do not think it is part of any grand design. To the degree humans have shaped it, I sometimes marvel but mostly weep. How can we invent such marvellous things and then tell the huge majority they cannot have them? I have my nose pressed against the glass wanting what I have been taught to want. But if everyone else can't have it, I don't want it.

I treasure my education, my computer and the cameras I am privileged to use.

From each according to his ability to each according to his need, said Marx and Engels in the Communist Manifesto. I find that a worthy credo and try to follow it while still holding to the kindness in my human nature.

I try to see dyslexia as a gift and hope I don't harm myself or others by getting some stupid little thing backwards.

My daddy always told me "You will come to grief, little girl" and generally he has been right on the money.

It has been a great privilege to have had even my brief contact with someone I consider to be one of the greatest Canadians.

The Samuel Pepys of flickr, she will turn her lens to anything and everything and, in doing so, chronicles not only what wants to be seen but also what needs to be seen. Not always (though often) pretty or pleasant, Sheila's unflinching image-diary of the early 21st century is detailed and intriguing and often, just plain fun.

In recording the world about her, she has a keen eye for the ironic and the poignant, the beauty in apparent ugliness and the rampant ugliness in what passes for beauty. She knows the world has gone mad, but hers is a genial presence, flecked with a wicked sense of humor that is a rare joy.
